Harnessing rainbow trapping via hybrid electromechanical metastructures for enhanced energy harvesting and vibration attenuation

Rainbow trapping is a phenomenon that enables vibration confinement due to the gradual variation of wave velocity in space, which typically achieved by means locally resonant unit cells. In context electromechanical metastructures for energy harvesting, this strategy employed improve mechanical-to-electrical conversion and thereby maximize harvested power. contrast structures endowed with either mechanical or resonators, we investigate hybrid configuration leverages synergistic interplay between them. We compare numerical results different grading laws comparison prior efforts on topic, demonstrating enhanced harvesting wideband attenuation capabilities metastructure. also discuss formation grading-induced localized modes shed light role motion individual resonators overall power output increase.
